Baby modeling in Japan....

This is very popular amongst "Gaijin" or foreigners here in Japan. The Japanese love the babes with the "big eyes" hence they are always looking for little models. Hairpin and I knew that we wanted to take Aloysius to one of these auditions before we left just for the experience of it, so we did. Last Wednesday, the boys and I set out for Tokyo to audition for a COMBI catalog gig. Here are my handsome boys waiting for the train into Tokyo....

I was so excited to see what this was all about but it ended up being rather anti-climatic. I did not even bother to photograph any part of it.
We basically traveled about 2 hours to get there, walked into a sauna, checked Aloysius' diaper, then before I knew it he was being measured and I was given clothes to put him in. Did I mention it was a sauna??? Yeah...and the clothes were a long sleeve onesie and pants. As best we could, pulling these clothes on an already sweaty little guy, we got him ready for his debut. It lasted a whole thirty seconds with no smiles in sight and I didn't blame the poor little guy. We didn't even him re-dress him up there. We waited until we were out of the sauna and out in the street...which was really not much better! On our way out, we were pleasantly surprised when the agent who got us this audition gave us 1,000YEN for travel reimbursement. WOOOOO HOOOOO!!!!
On our way home, our little trooper enjoyed a little snack and continued to wait patiently until this little adventure was finally over.

Two days later we received an e-mail... "not this time, maybe next time." The nerve I thought, but then again of course I would!
