It's been 9 months and 22 days since life with Type 1 Diabetes began. While it never ceases to be the greatest challenge ever, Hairpin, Flounder and Aloysius continue to grow and blossom and adapt to its all consuming nature. Aloysius continues to be a complete "champ" with regards to all the daily finger sticks, insulin shots and dietary restrictions. He never seizes to amaze. Nonetheless, Diabetes is what it is and it takes its toll on people who live with it. On 12-20-12 Aloysius announced, "When I am bigger, I am not going to have Diabetes." Talk about heart ache the moment those words were uttered. It took a while to process this and realize that maybe Aloysius was right. Maybe there will be a cure for Type 1 Diabetes in the future. And hopefully, this announcement will become the greatest prediction Aloysius will ever make!
