As some of you know, the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center At Columbia-Presbyterian is where little A receives his diabetes care. As part of the clinical care team there is a child life specialist, Jaclyn Gee, who periodically organizes these "picnics" for the families. This one was held during school vacation so Aloysius was actually able to attend. Not only is it amazing for him to meet and be around other children who have to live with Type 1 Diabetes, but it has the potential of being a great support system for the parents!
Thank you to Jaclyn for making this possible!

Part of the purpose of these gatherings is to let the children experiment with the different tools that they use to manage their Diabetes. Enzo, our little Diabetes Buddy, found an insulin pen to try out.
He is asking Ms. Jaclyn for help opening an alcohol swab.
Enzo is holding a syringe in his hands. These are little A's least favorite as they often give him a "big" stick:(
Aloysius found the glucose monitoring kit.
He is getting it all set up to...
test flounder's blood sugar levels:)
Our "picnic" spot in one of the waiting rooms.
Taylor's grandmother read them a story. Aloysius loves books so he was happy for that quiet moment.
Out to lunch with Enzo!!!!
