As everyone may have guessed by now, baby Sushi has yet to make his/her grand appearance. This morning before heading to the Hospital, Aloysius had some words of encouragement for Flounder.
There was a nostalgia that overcame Flounder as Aloysius walked away with Hairpin into Pre-K. Our little family of three was really going to be gone forever as of today. So Aloysius' sweet little look back and wave made Flounder's heart dance.
Flounder and Hairpin arrived at the hospital this morning at 10:30AM to get prepped for the 12:30PM scheduled C-section. First interesting thing that occurred was that upon check-in at the nurse's desk, there was no Flounder on the list. No worries though, went right to triage any way to get prepped. Vanessa, Flounder's nurse there was amazing! She has such good, calm energy and really took her time making sure everything was done properly and comfortably. 12:30 PM came and went...Flounder met the anesthesiologist and even got to meet the OR nurse. But then, the OR nurse was called away for an emergency and Flounder was in limbo. Good thing at this point was that Hairpin was able to join Flounder again! The wait continued and then suddenly there was a fire drill followed by a move out of triage to another room in labor and delivery to wait some more. At around 2:45PM, Flounder's water broke...this was around the same time the OBGYN was coming to inform everyone that we were set to go into the OR! What happened next is a riot. Such that, the OBGYN actually photographed this hilarious moment in time: 15 minute decision between Doc, Flounder, and Hairpin to agree on this glorious decision -- VBAC!!!!
For those of you who do not know a VBAC is a Vaginal Birth After C-Section. This is what Flounder originally wanted but had given up in order to attend Aloysius' pre-K graduation next week. So when the water broke and the decision was made, Flounder was one happy camper! Lenise, Anna and Melody came for a visit during the mild part of Flounder's laboring.
Kisses for baby Sushi!!!
Was it mentioned that Flounder was ecstatic to experience labor?
The last two sentences onward were typed by Hairpin as the contractions have increased in intensity to which Flounder declared, "I really wanted this?!"
