Flounder's labor continued on through the night. There are no words to describe the pain that labor brings forth and Flounder is pretty tough. She definite holds any woman who has had natural non-medicated child birth to the highest level of respect. At 1AM, the Anesthesiologist became Flounder's best friend. Although she was only dilated 2cm, an epidural was mentioned and Flounder jumped all over that! By 6AM, Flounder was 9cm dilated!!!! She was so excited to push this baby out!!! Suddenly, she noted that instead of maintaining or increasing in heart rate, baby Sushi's heart rate started to slow down during the contractions. This happened 3 times in a row and then the nurses were in the room. Flounder was given oxygen to help baby sushi deal with these contractions better and Flounder's OBGYN was contacted. Unfortunately, the OBGYN never made it because Flounder ended up having an emergency C-section due to baby Sushi's continued dips in heart rate.
The surgery went well and hearing baby Sushi wail was overwhelmingly emotional. As requested, Hairpin took a peek and announced to Flounder that Sushi was a BOY!!!!! Lucky for Flounder, baby Sushi stayed with her in the OR while surgery was completed:)
Sushi was able to ride along side Flounder to the recovery room while Hairpin went to post partum room. Sushi and Flounder hanging out in recovery room.
